Shadows Guild

One of the more powerful guilds of the empire. Under their control are the assassins, magicians, imposters, interregators, and until very recently necromancers. It has an agreement with the Mages Council giving it control of summoners and illusionists. It doesn’t maintain power through control of the guard force, like the Martial Guild, or through control of vital resources like the Apothecary Guild or the Forgers Guild. It instead holds power through fear, even though assassinations carried out on other guilds are quite rare. They are quiet in the usual guild politics, but when they do get involved, they are usually unopposed. The location of their fabled guildhall, Night’s Hollow, is unknown to all but a select few high up within the organization.

It is seen in most circles as being the patron of the Guild of Whispers, and together they share control over the enchanters.

For unknown reasons The Guildmaster of Shadows recently expelled the necromancers from the guild. He then somehow convinced the Mages Council to strip the necromancers of their seat on the High Council. Since then He has instated the Inquisition of Night, a body with an ambiguous commission whose primary actions involve hunting down and executing necromancers.
